Keith Mashburn

Keith Mashburn has lived here in Simi Valley since 1955. He attended Elementary, Junior High, and High School here, graduating from Simi Valley High School in 1968. An accomplished motorcycle rider, upon his graduation from high school, Keith was hired by the Yamaha International Corporation to race throughout the United States. He is a former flat track racer who competed with motocross legends and was the No. 1 novice in the nation in 1968 and won the Yamaha Gold Cup in 1971. Since then, Keith has gone on to do many things in the Simi Valley area. He was a Firefighter and Chief Investigator for the Ventura County Fire Department. Throughout his 31 year career there, he became a California State Certified Fire Investigator and Instructor and has taught several fire departments in California. A family man, he and his wife, Shelby, have created and sold a number of businesses in Simi — a trophy shop, a motorcycle shop, and a coffee house. Wanting to give back to the community, his close ties to Ventura County and Simi Valley officials helped him get on the Simi Valley Planning Commission and City Council. Eventually Keith became Mayor of Simi Valley from 2018-2022. For his tremendous career and exemplary dedication to his community, we are honoring Keith Mashburn for the 2023 Hopetown Reunion.
